Terrible

Worst dentist visit I've ever had! I went to Dr. Milligan because his office was close to my house and, as a nervous patient, I usually require the use of nitrous oxide to get through an appointment. I needed several fillings, a crown on a recently root canaled tooth, and an extraction, the last of which my endodontist and I had decided to postpone in favor of preventing the need for another root canal. My priorities were the crown and the fillings, which I informed Dr. Milligan of before I even made the appointment. I had choice dental insurance, so I was told I would only have to pay for an estimated amount not covered by my insurance and they would file the claim for me. Having just recently gotten over my phobia of the dentist thanks to my wonderful endodontist, I was uncomfortable as soon as I entered the office. For a family dentist, having a display of old dentist drills (extremely scary) as wall decor just didn't seem appropriate. Not to mention his office was adjoining a gas station. The only positive thing I have to say about the visit was that the office staff was great. They got me checked in and in my exam room quickly and politely. As soon as Dr. Milligan entered the room and started examining my teeth I realized I had come to the wrong dentist. I warned him about my fears, and it seemed to me he just kept pushing even after I told him I was uncomfortable. If something hurt, he did it again, if it scared me, he did it more. He kept making insulting comments about how bad my teeth looked, and finally left so the assistant could do the xrays. When he came back, he attempted to change my entire health plan. I told him what my endodontist and i had decided on, and he refused to help me fix anything, even the crown to go over an already overdue root canal. He insisted that I let him root canal the tooth that was going to be extracted, even though my endodontist had told me that it wouldn't last more that 2 years. When i refused to comply with the changes, he made the threatening statement that "There is no dental staff in the emergency room, and thats where you're going." Needless to say, I grabbed my xrays and left crying and in the middle of a panic attack because my phobia was back. When I tried to check out they charged me the full amount instead of the estimate, which I gladly paid just to get out of there. I stand by the fact that the office staff was sweet and professional, but the visit was like something out of a nightmare. I don't recommend this dentist to anyone who doesn't appreciate being treated rudely by someone who thinks you are ignorant. Worst visit ever!
